About Me

Hello I’m Alma, a contemplative artist, buddhist meditation teacher and art therapist.

Hola soy Alma, artista contemplativa, maestra de meditación budista y arte-terapeuta.

Alma Ayón

My artwork has influence from Eastern contemplative traditions where art was closely linked to the spiritual quest for understanding consciousness and developing a deeper wisdom as embodied through forms such as Zen calligraphy and Sumi-e, which emphasized painting with mindfulness, concentration and presence.

I teach international courses on Contemplative Art, Mindful Watercolor Sketching, Art as Meditation, Clay and Emotions, in which I guide my students toward the source of their creativity, helping them find their motivation for making art. I offer a therapeutic approach to working with the mind and emotions during my courses, applying millennia-old Eastern principles to approach creativity with mindfulness.

Featured Work

I love painting abstract art that reflects my meditations. Calligraphy, mandalas and Ink minimalist paintings to connect with my spiritual path. And realist drawings and paintings  to reflect the world around me.

Meditation Teaching & Retreats

I teach international courses on secular meditation and Buddhadharma in which I offer a variety of meditation techniques and foundations for a spiritual path. More about my journey doing long term meditation retreats.

I lead two weekly online guided meditation sessions one in Spanish one in English, where we spend some time after the meditation discussing the topic of the week.

I also offer a few private sessions in which I help my students reflect on their lives and relationships, design a daily meditation practice and a creative way of expressing their emotions. My passion for coaching was born from a decade of teaching Art and Meditation courses and be requested by people and my teachers to offer guidance to aspiring meditation practitioners as well as experienced practitioners wishing to embark into group and solitary retreats. Sometimes I organize group retreats where we take some days or months to explore the mind, emotions and creativity in a peaceful helthy environment. Visit my site ContemplArte for more resources.
